Dog sledding can be experienced year round.  We offer several exploration options for you to choose.  

Summer Dog Sledding along wooded trails

Learn about the lifestyle of Seward's own Iditarod racing family, the home of the 2004 Winner, Mitch Seavy, and see what it takes to prepare musher and sled dogs for the world's most demanding race. Tour the racing kennels, cuddle puppies, and climb aboard a comfortable custom wheeled sled for a thrilling two-mile sled ride from the Seavy Homestead to the base of Resurrection Mountain. All tours are guided by Iditarod and Jr. Iditarod finishers.

Glacier Dog Sledding with Iditarod and Yukon Quest Veterans

You can also enjoy a truly Alaskan adventure, Helicopter Glacier Dog Sledding Tour!

This tour incorporates flight-seeing and Alaska's most recognized sport of dog mushing. Passengers are taken on the 40-minute flight-seeing tour of the Sargent Ice Field and Resurrection Bay and then are treated to a landing at our exclusive dog sled camp where they will enjoy learning from professional dog mushers the art of running the Yukon Quest and Iditarod Sled Dog Races. This tour is highlighted with a 20-25 minute ride across the snow-capped glacier on a dog sled. A must-do for passengers of all ages. Glacier walking boots are provided for added protection on this tour.

§         Includes all flight-seeing highlights of the Four Glacier Adventure Tour

    • Take a flight over the Chugach National Forest, Resurrection Bay, and the massive Sargent Ice Field. See four unique glaciers and experience a landing on one of them. Your pilot/guide will point out fascinating features of the glacier such as icefalls, moraines, and glacial streams. Keep an eye out for whales, sea lions, and puffins during the flight back to Seward.

Winter Dog Sledding with a Family of Iditarod and Jr. Iditarod Champions

Experience world class dog sledding at the Winter Training grounds of the Seavy Iditarod racing team, winter home of Mitch Seavy, winner of the 2004 Iditarod Race. While Seward is his home town, Mitch and his family do their race training out of their kennel in Sterling, Alaska. Winter sports are contingent on weather and snow coverage.
