More information on Kenai National Wildlife Refuge The Kenai Peninsula has some of the finest canoe trails in Alaska located in a pristine area of northern lowlands of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Swan Lake and Swanson River Canoe Trails are located in this nationally designated wilderness. This is an area of over 1.3 million acres of unspoiled wilderness. The area contains thousands of lakes, at least 199 species of amphibians, birds, and mammals, and 106 miles of trails linking 70 jeweled lakes in a network of interconnecting passages. The routes are also designated National Recreational Trails. Your guide into these waters has lived on the Kenai Peninsula for many years and has an intimate knowledge of every byway of this water and trail system. |
